Welcome back to footy! Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed a mid-season break and we look forward to seeing our community as you filter back to the club for training tonight and the resumption of games this weekend. Due to lower numbers, some age groups have combined training, which is a great chance for the kids to have a run with some new faces. Thank you to the coaches facilitating these sessions! A very big shout out to our Team Managers who have been doing an amazing job juggling team numbers and ensuring that our teams hit the ground in good shape this weekend. This is an enormous job and we are very grateful for the pivotal role our TMs play within our Club. |

Victorian Selection A huge congratulations to Nick Wright, from our U15 Boys Holmes team, who has been selected into the Victorian U15 team. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of Nick, his dedicated approach to his football and his special contribution to our Club over a number of years. Our Director of Coaching (and Nick’s past coach) Wayne Oswald has some specific reflections on this honour and Nick’s journey to this point. “Nick is an example of a young talented player committing to a continuous improvement journey mindset. During our season together Nick challenged his attitude toward his training preparation and performance. He accepted game day roles outside his comfort zone and by season end was comfortably in the top three key defenders in the comp. Nick adopted a no icing approach to his coach/player relationship. He constantly asked questions on his performance and applied the open, honest feedback to his training and game. Perhaps the most outstanding and at the same time unique aspect of Nick's strive for excellence is his ability to turn what some perceive as a mistake into a "learning opportunity" No doubt Nick will be seeing his Big V selection as a learning opportunity on his exciting football journey. A huge well done to Nick, this is an honour that is very well deserved!” ![]() |

The full training allocation can be found online right here, but keep an eye on your team WhapsApp chat for your relevant information. Our full training schedule for the remainder of the season will be released soon. FYI…. The Melbourne Rugby Union Club will be running an event at Orrong for the Lions Tour in Melbourne. This will run all day on Friday the 25th of July, so no PJFC training at Orrong will take place on this night. |

Mater Dei Friendly Game In the holidays, PJFC hosted a group of girls from the Mater Dei College AFL Academy. Whilst it did seem most of Melbourne was elsewhere, it gave our girls a chance to play in a blended team across age groups. Wonderful leadership was demonstrated by our older girls and determination and confidence from our younger crew - 11yo Pip Noonan gets a special mention for stepping in! Fun was the goal and Mater Dei were fully on board. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped out on the day. We could not have pulled this off without you and it was a warm fuzzy moment of what community sport is about. ![]() |
